Marvelous May

We cannot believe that May is already upon us.  The children have grown so much since September and our SK students are getting ready for Grade 1. Next week is Education Week (from the 4th through the 8th) and we will be celebrating with an open house on Monday. You are invited to join us in the library for a light breakfast at 8:45 a.m. till 9:15 a.m., followed by a visit in your child's classroom. Afterwards, there will be an assembly in the gym for parents and students.

Scientists in Schools will be presenting their second workshop, entitled Simply Marvelous Machines, later this month.  A note will be sent home shortly requesting parent volunteers. (May 21st in Mrs. Milobar's class and May 26th in Mrs. Lombardi's class).

If you have a child entering Kindergarten next year, you may wish to attend our "Welcome to Kindergarden Night". This night is intended to welcome new students and their parents to our school community and to calm any concerns your child may be having.

After the long winter, we are finally enjoying some wonderful warm weather with beautiful sunshine. The children will be enjoying themselves in our yard and will require protection from the harmful rays of the sun.  We would request that you apply sunscreen to your child before leaving home.  Unfortunately we will not be in a position to reapply it throughout the day.  We encourage all children to protect themselves by wearimg a hat and sunglasses. If you choose to send your child to school in sandals, please ensure that he or she has a pair of socks in his/her schoolbag to wear with their indoor shoes. Flip flops are not permitted at school. Our play structure will reopen shortly, once it has been inspected and it is safe. Should your child wish to play on the structure, he or she must be wearimg closed toed shoes.

We have noticed that several students have been bringing toys from home to school. As this has caused some conflicts and tears amongst the children, we would kindly request that all personal toys remain at home.

On a final note, we would like to wish all of the wonderful mothers a pleasant and restful Mother’s Day.
